Money Traps
Most people these days subscribe to cable T.V. or have an Internet
connection, if not both. As part of modern day living, it’s hard
to imagine life without these luxuries, but taken together cable and
the internet can add a pretty hefty amount to your monthly expenses.
Far too many people don’t take the time to evaluate exactly what
their needs are versus what products, services and suppliers are on
the market. And one of the good things about the telecommunications
industry, is that it is evolving all the time with new players coming
to the market constantly. To that end you should take a look at your
T.V. and Internet contracts on at least a 6 monthly basis to see what
new deals are being offered and what new suppliers are on the market.
Sometimes just threatening to cancel a subscription (assuming you are
not locked in to any particular term) can yield a reduction in subscription
costs or other benefits. Take a look also at the products or services
that you are signed up for and see if they still match your viewing/surfing
habits. Do you watch all the channels your cable T.V. package supplies?
Do you really need broadband Internet when you only surf one hour per
day? Every six months or so contact your supplier and enquire if they
have any special promotions or deals going on at the time. It doesn’t
hurt to ask, and just saving 20 dollars/pounds/euros per month or so
can add up to a hefty amount over time.
